Whilst these verses might not necessarily reference the scientific findings mentioned here, they showcase how, even the most hard to imagine realities explained by the Quran, can be shown to be permissible with modern scientific discoveries.
Glory be to the One Who created all ˹things in˺ pairs—˹be it˺ what the earth produces, their genders, or what they do not know!36:36
This verse mentions that everything, including what the Earth produces, humans, and even things unknown to humanity at the time, was created in pairs.
- Biological Pairs: In the natural world, the concept of pairs is evident in the male and female counterparts in humans, animals, and plants (pollination processes, sexual reproduction). This was observable even in ancient times. - Matter and Antimatter: Modern physics has revealed that particles exist in pairs: for every particle, there is an antiparticle. Examples include: Electrons and Positrons: The electron has a positively charged counterpart called the positron. Quarks and Antiquarks: Fundamental particles of matter also have corresponding antiparticles. These pairs annihilate each other upon interaction, releasing energy—a foundational concept in particle physics. Complementary Forces: Beyond matter, many phenomena in the universe manifest in pairs, such as: Positive and negative electrical charges. North and south poles of magnets. Binary star systems in astronomy.
- The phrase "created in pairs" applies universally to known entities (humans, plants, animals) and extends to unknown aspects ("things they have no knowledge of"), which could be interpreted as subatomic particles and forces discovered much later. - The Quran's reference to the unseen pairs resonates with the discovery of antimatter and quantum particle pairs, concepts entirely unknown during its revelation.
