1400 years ago, it was not known that there was no way for sea salt to reach the tops of mountains. However, this concept was mentioned in the Quran.
Of all the water on Earth, about 97% is saline water found in oceans, seas, and saline groundwater. Only around 2.5-2.75% is freshwater, and most of it (around 1.75-2%) is frozen in glaciers, ice, and snow. A small portion (0.5-0.75%) exists as fresh groundwater and soil moisture, and less than 0.01% is surface water found in lakes, swamps, and rivers.
Salts cannot evaporate with water, so they cannot be carried into the water cycle or transported to high mountains. This means that the snow found on the peaks of mountains is freshwater, not salty.
The Quran mentions freshwater on mountains in Surah 77:27:
and placed upon it towering, firm mountains, and given you fresh water to drink?77:27
This was an accurate description of the nature of water found on mountains, which was later confirmed by modern science. The Quran's mention of freshwater on mountains was known only recently, but it was recorded over 1400 years ago.
The Quran's statement about freshwater on mountains is another example of its miraculous insight. At a time when there was no understanding of the water cycle and the nature of mountain snow, the Quran accurately mentioned that mountains have freshwater, not salty water, proving once again the divine knowledge contained in the Quran.
