The Quran's claim about Pharaoh's body being preserved after drowning is consistent with what modern archaeology has found, which contrasts with the Bible's assertion that Pharaoh's body drowned in the Red Sea. In the Bible, it is claimed that Pharaoh’s body sank due to the weight of his armor. However, when archaeologists have searched for such a body, they have found that no mummies were ever found at the bottom of the Red Sea. Pharaoh's body should have sunk, as his armor was made of dense materials, such as copper, iron scales, and semi-precious stones, making it much heavier than the surrounding watering to the bottom, Pharaoh’s body was later discovered mummified inland. Modern scholars argue that this discrepancy requires an explanation about how his body was preserved despite the natural conditions that would have sunk it, as was the case with other bodies from the time.
The Quran, however, accurately describes Allah's intervention, which prevented Pharaoh’s body from sinking and preserved it as a sign for future generations. This aligns with the Quranic verse in Surah Yunus (10:92), which states:
Today We will preserve your corpse so that you may become an example for those who come after you. And surely most people are heedless of Our examples!”10:92
This knowledge, preserved in the Quran, matches modern discoveries about the preservation of Pharaoh's body. It was not lost at sea but was deliberately preserved as a sign. This foresight is a significant point of alignment between ancient knowledge and modern findings, particularly when compared to other historical accounts that were written centuries after the event. How could an unlettered man living 1400 years ago have known such detailed knowledge about the fate of Pharaoh's body? The Quran's insight reflects an understanding far ahead of its time, with no archaeological evidence contradicting the preservation of Pharaoh's body.
