It is well-known today that camels are among the fastest drinkers in the animal kingdom. Under normal conditions, a dromedary camel can drink up to 200 liters (53 US gallons) of water in just about three minutes. This remarkable ability is due to several physiological adaptations that allow camels to survive in arid environments, where water is scarce. These adaptations include their oval-shaped red blood cells that allow them to drink large amounts of water without harming their bodies, even under extreme dehydration.

The Quran provides a description of the fate of those who are punished in Hell, mentioning that they will drink water in a manner similar to thirsty camels. This imagery aligns with the scientific understanding that camels drink at an extremely fast rate, which is an adaptation to their harsh environment.

The verse describes how the damned in Hell will drink rapidly, much like camels do when they are extremely thirsty. This comparison was made 1400 years ago, long before the discovery of camels' impressive drinking abilities.
