Prime numbers are numbers that can only be divided by 1 and themselves. The word "Allah" appears 2,699 times in the Quran, and 2,699 is a prime number. This means it cannot be divided by any other number, just as Allah is indivisible. Some people may say this is just a coincidence, but it turns out that prime numbers are a special feature of the entire Quran. A prime number is a number greater than 1 that cannot be divided by any other number except 1 and itself. For example, 5 is prime because it can only be divided as 1 x 5. On the other hand, 6 is not a prime because it can be divided as 2 x 3. Prime numbers are important in mathematics because they are the building blocks for all other numbers. You can create any number by multiplying prime numbers, like how 8 can be written as 2 x 2 x 2. Interestingly, the Quran mentions prime numbers long before they were recognized in mathematics. For instance, in the first chapter of the Quran (Surah Al-Fatiha), the number of verses, words, and letters are all prime numbers: The verse count is 7 (a prime number). The word count is 29 (a prime number). The letter count is 139 (a prime number). When we check the number of letters in the entire Quran, it is 326,159. And, surprisingly, this number is also a prime number. This means that the Quran is indivisible; if even a single letter were added or removed, it would no longer be a prime number. This further supports the idea that the Quran has been perfectly preserved. So, how could an unlettered man like Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, who lived 1,400 years ago, have known about prime numbers and their significance in the Quran unless he was Prophet of The Divine? This is one of the many miracles in the Quran.
