Once Joseph's innocence was openly proved, the king decided to establish him into his close circle.
The King said, “Bring him to me. I will employ him exclusively in my service.” And when Joseph spoke to him, the King said, “Today you are highly esteemed and fully trusted by us.”12:54
Joseph suggested he be made in charge of the store houses where the grain was kept. He knew the famine would be treacherous so wanted to make sure his people were left with enough grain to get through it.
Joseph proposed, “Put me in charge of the store-houses of the land, for I am truly reliable and adept.”12:55
This is how We established Joseph in the land to settle wherever he pleased. We shower Our mercy on whoever We will, and We never discount the reward of the good-doers.12:56
And the reward of the Hereafter is far better for those who are faithful and are mindful ˹of Allah˺.12:57
Ibn Ishaq said that the king, Walid bin Rayyan, converted to Islam from Joseph's preaching, and according to the people of the book the king after the death of the minister gave his wife Ra’eel (the same woman mentioned earlier) in marriage to Joseph whom he found to be a virgin as her husband was too old to intimate, and she bore Joseph two sons Afra’eem and Myesha. This is the narration of the people of the book and we are commanded not to affirm or reject their stories, as the Quran and hadith of prophet Mohammed, peace be upon him, do not talk about Joseph's marriage.
