When her messengers came back to her with her undelivered gift, and told her what Solomon said, she felt it was right to surrender to Solomon's acts. So, she set off with her troops to Solomon, coming in submission.
Muhammad bin Ishaq reported from Yazid bin Ruman: "When the messengers returned with word of what Solomon said, she said: 'By Allah, I knew he was more than a king, and that we have no power to match him, and that we can gain nothing by being stubborn with him. So, she sent word to him saying: "I am coming to you with the leaders of my people to see what you will instruct us to do and what you are calling us to of your religion." Then she issued commands that her throne, which was made of gold and inlaid with rubies, chrysolite and pearls, should be placed in the innermost of seven rooms, one within the other, and all the doors should be locked. Then she told her deputy whom she was leaving in charge, "Take care of my people and my throne, and do not let anyone approach it or see it until I come back to you." Then she set off to meet Solomon with twelve thousand of her commanders from the leaders of Yemen, under each of whose command were many thousands of men.
Solomon sent the Jinn to bring him news of her progress and route every day and night, then when she drew near, he asked his people and jinn who will bring her throne from her kingdom before she arrives. A jinn (an ifrit) who was very big; according to Abu Salih "it was as if he was a mountain", said he would bring the throne before Solomon ended his meeting with his council. Another person or jinn, who it is said knew the Great Names of Allah, also offered that he would bring the throne, saying he would bring it before the wink of an eye.
When the throne was brought to him, Solomon exclaimed that this was a blessing that Allah had bestowed upon him.
Solomon asked, “O chiefs! Which of you can bring me her throne before they come to me in ˹full˺ submission?”27:38
One mighty jinn responded, “I can bring it to you before you rise from this council of yours. And I am quite strong and trustworthy for this ˹task˺.”27:39
But the one who had knowledge of the Scripture said, “I can bring it to you in the blink of an eye.” So when Solomon saw it placed before him, he exclaimed, “This is by the grace of my Lord to test me whether I am grateful or ungrateful. And whoever is grateful, it is only for their own good. But whoever is ungrateful, surely my Lord is Self-Sufficient, Most Generous.”27:40
When Solomon brought the throne of Bilqis before she and her people arrived, he issued orders that some of its ornaments should be changed, so that he could test her and see whether she recognized it and how composed she would be when she saw it.
˹Then˺ Solomon said, “Disguise her throne for her so we may see whether she will recognize ˹it˺ or she will not be able to.”27:41
So when she arrived, it was said ˹to her˺, “Is your throne like this?” She replied, “It looks to be the same. We have ˹already˺ received knowledge ˹of Solomon’s prophethood˺ before this ˹miracle˺, and have submitted ˹to Allah˺.”27:42
They showed her the altered throne. She was however intelligent and did not hasten to say that this was her throne, because it was far away from her. Neither did she hasten to say that it was not her throne, when she saw that some things had been altered and changed. She said instead 'It is as though it were the very same!'
Solomon's palace was built of crystal glass. Streams of water flowed throughout, filled with fish and adorned with crystals. Bilquis as she entered and saw the streams walked into them. She realised the truth and submitted to follow the right path.
It is mentioned in some books that Solomon married Bilquis, but she was still the Queen of Yemen and stayed there ruling her people. Solomon also got the jinn to build 3 palaces in Yemen: Ghamdan, Saliheen and Beitun.
But she had been hindered by what she used to worship instead of Allah, for she was indeed from a disbelieving people.27:43
Then she was told, “Enter the palace.” But when she saw the hall, she thought it was a body of water, so she bared her legs. Solomon said. “It is just a palace paved with crystal.” ˹At last˺ she declared, “My Lord! I have certainly wronged my soul. Now I ˹fully˺ submit myself along with Solomon to Allah, the Lord of all worlds.”27:44
