The first of Ibrahim's children was Ishmael from his wife Hagar. Ishmael was the son who was sacrificed as a test from Allah - more on this story here. Whereas in Jewish scripture it was his brother Isaac. In the context of the people of the book, Ibrahim was 86 years old when his first born Ishmael was born.

Ishmael was the son left with his mother, Hajar, with little food in Makkah near the mountains of Faran. Then, when the sacrifice took place, Ishmael was older than 13 years old.

Allah praised him and his traits of being forbearing, one who guarded his prayers, enjoined it upon his family and called people to the right worship of their Lord.

So We gave him good news of a forbearing son.37:101

Then when the boy reached the age to work with him, Abraham said, “O my dear son! I have seen in a dream that I ˹must˺ sacrifice you. So tell me what you think.” He replied, “O my dear father! Do as you are commanded. Allah willing, you will find me steadfast.”37:102

And mention in the Book ˹O Prophet, the story of˺ Ishmael. He was truly a man of his word, and was a messenger and a prophet.19:54

He used to urge his people to pray and give alms-tax. And his Lord was well pleased with him.19:55

And remember Our servants: Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—the men of strength and insight.38:45

We truly chose them for the honour of proclaiming the Hereafter.38:46

And in Our sight they are truly among the chosen and the finest.38:47

Also remember Ishmael, Elisha, and Ⱬul-Kifl. All are among the best.38:48

And ˹remember˺ Ishmael, Enoch, and Ⱬul-Kifl. They were all steadfast.21:85

We admitted them into Our mercy, for they were truly of the righteous.21:86

Indeed, We have sent revelation to you ˹O Prophet˺ as We sent revelation to Noah and the prophets after him. We also sent revelation to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and his descendants, ˹as well as˺ Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon. And to David We gave the Psalms.4:163

Say, ˹O believers,˺ “We believe in Allah and what has been revealed to us; and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and his descendants; and what was given to Moses, Jesus, and other prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them. And to Allah we all submit.”2:136

Do you claim that Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and his descendants were all Jews or Christians?” Say, “Who is more knowledgeable: you or Allah?” Who does more wrong than those who hide the testimony they received from Allah? And Allah is never unaware of what you do.2:140

Historians name him as the first to tame and ride a horse. They describe his eloquence in speech as a result of learning the skill from indigenous tribes called Jurhum, Amaliq and others who would frequently camp closeby.

Ismaeel married and later divorced a woman from the tribe of Amaliq - Umarah bint Sa'd bin Usamah bin Ukail Al-Amaliqi. He then married a woman called Saiyidah bint Mudad bin Amr Al-Jurhumi - perhaps his third wife. She gave birth to 12 children; Nabet, Qidhar, Isbil, Mishi, Mash, Dusa, Arar, Yatur, Nabsh, Tema and Qidhma.

Ismaeel is the ancestor of prophet Mohammed peace be upon him, between them there was no prophet for 60 generations among arabs.
