Ibrahim had his second son Isaac when he was over 100 years old and his brother Ishmael was about 13 years old.
We ˹later˺ gave him good news of Isaac—a prophet, and one of the righteous.37:112
We blessed him and Isaac as well. Some of their descendants did good, while others clearly wronged themselves.37:113
As the above, Isaac is regarded highly in quran and hadith; for example Ahmad 2:332.
According to the Qur'anic commentators when Abraham thought of his son getting married he rejected the pagans, so he sent a trustworthy servant to Haran in Iraq to choose a bride for Isaac. The servant chose Rebekah Bint Bethuel, Ibn Nahor, who was a brother of Abraham. After marriage she gave birth to a set of twins, Esau (Al-Eis) and Jacob (Yaqub). Esau developed ill feelings against his brother, due to him being closer to their father and being blessed with prophethood. This negativity grew to the extent that Jacob had to flee from his home country to save his life.
Rebekah told Jacob to go to his uncle's house, her brother Laban in Haran. On his way, he stopped at night and laid a rock to lean on and sleep. He had a dream of stairs leading up to heaven that angels would travel on. The Lord then told him that he will give his descendants the land he was sleeping on and that his people would spread around the world. Jacob woke up happy and vowed to give 1/10th of everything he has for the sake of God. He painted the stone he slept on with oil, called the place Yele’s house (bethlem) meaning house of Allah and continued on his way - this is the same place Jerusalem & Bayt-ul-Maqdis in Palestine is situated.
Jacob went his uncle's house and asked for one of his daughters in marriage - Rachel(Rahil). Rachel also had a sister called Leah(Lia). Their father, Laban said if Jacob wanted to marry his daughter he would have to work for him for 7 years - which he completed. On the evening of the marriage, Laban mischievously gave him his other daughter Leah who was less pretty. Jacob realised soon after and questioned his uncle Laban. Laban said you have to work for an additional 7 years to marry Rachel - which, again, he did. Jacob had children from both these sisters and their maid women; from Leah he had Reuben, Simeon, Levy, Judah, Isaachar and Zebulun. From Rachel he had Joseph(Yusuf) and Benjamin(Binyameen). From Rachel's maid, Bilhah, he had Dan and Naphtali and from Leah's maid, Zilpah, Gad and Asher.
After around 20 years with his uncle, Jacob agreed with his wives to move back to the land of his homeland. He was apprehensive about meeting his brother Easu again. He heard that his brother was coming to see him with 400 men which scared Jacob further. He made dua and when he saw his brother, gifted him lots of his livestock. It was at this time an angel came to him saying he will now be called Israel (hence the name the children of Israel - Jews were of his descendants). Easu embraced him and accepted his gift. Jacob continued further to a place called Seir.
Isaac, Jacob's father, died of old age at 180 years old and was buried with Ibrahim.
