And ˹so˺ they made a plan, but We too made a plan, while they were unaware.27:50

See then what the consequences of their plan were: We ˹utterly˺ destroyed them and their people all together.27:51

So their homes are there, ˹but completely˺ ruined because of their wrongdoing. Surely in this is a lesson for people of knowledge.27:52

And We delivered those who were faithful and were mindful ˹of Allah˺.27:53

Before they could kill Saleh, Allah punished the disbelievers of Thamud, as per promise, they had received a three day warning - and instead of using this time to repent they continued in their disbelief and arrogance, so after three days, a mighty blast hit them from above and below (thunderbolts and violent earthquake). They all died, before the mighty and terrifying cry was over. They remained in their houses lifeless.

as if they had never lived there. Surely Thamûd denied their Lord, so away with Thamûd!11:68

When the people of Thamud were destroyed, Saleh said he tried to guide them but as a result of their actions they were punished (similar to the address the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ did after Badr in Bukhari 1370, Muslim 932)

So he turned away from them, saying, “O my people! Surely I conveyed to you my Lord’s message and gave you ˹sincere˺ advice, but you do not like ˹sincere˺ advisors.”7:79

It is said that after this Saleh made his way to the Haram of Makkah until his death [Narrations such as Ahmad 1:232]
