When our Prophet Muhammed ﷺ was on his way to the Battle of Tabuk with the Muslims, they camped at Al-Hijr near where the Thamud used to live. Some drank from the same well that the people of Thamud used to drink. Some were preparing food when the Prophet ﷺ stopped them and they fed their food to their camels. He reached the well the she-camel used to drink and warned his people to not enter the houses of those who were punished. Therefore we should avoid tourism of such places.
